Employee Ridesharing
This ridesharing site is exclusively for employees of the BC Public Service. Employees can choose to match only with other employees, or with the general public. Registration is limited to users who have e-mail addresses that end in @gov.bc.ca
This website helps people in three distinct situations:
- Who want to travel somewhere once (like a meeting, event, or course) and share rides in their own cars (see sidebar)
- Who want to commute to/from work daily, and share rides in their own cars
- Who want to commute to/from work daily, in a 4-passenger car or an 8-passenger van supplied by Jack Bell Ride-Share

How it works
It's pretty simple. You tell the Ride Share Website where you want to go and when, and where you will be starting your trip(s). If you're commuting to work, it asks which days of the week. For a one-time trip, it just asks what day.
The Website looks for other people who want to go to the same place (approximately) at the same time (approximately). It also checks whether there is someone to pick up along the way. The Website shows any 'matches'. If you decided there is a close enough match, you can send a 'suggestion (offer to ride-share)' to the other parties. When they accept, you get their email address so you can communicate with them.
The system uses Google Maps to find and display your route. You can specify the route you are taking if it's not the most direct. Locations can be specified by address or postal code or by clicking on the map.
Your privacy is important to us
Your exact address is never shown and your email address is only revealed to other commuters when you accept a suggestion to ride-share -- it's up to you to determine compatibility.
